Jagran Institute of Management, Kanpur (LC Id- 7588) – Proud Local Chapter of Swayam NPTEL

Local Chapter for SWAYAM-NPTEL has been established at Jagran Institute of Management, Kanpur (LC Id- 7588), a project initiated and funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NPTEL is a joint initiative between IITs, IIMs and IISc to offer online courses and certification in humanities, basic sciences, computer science and management. The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants – (1) video lecture, (2) specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed (3) self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes and (4) an online discussion forum for clearing the doubts. Steps have been taken to enrich the learning experience by using audio-video and multi-media and state of the art pedagogy / technology. In order to ensure best quality content are produced and delivered, nine National Coordinators have been appointed: They are AICTE for self-paced courses, NPTEL for engineering, UGC for post-graduation education, CEC for under-graduate education, NCERT & NIOS for school education, IGNOU for out of the school students and IIMB for management studies. This allows students to join in the SWAYAM-NPTEL Courses and the certification exam through which the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate from the Institutions of National Importance such as IIT’s, IIM’s NIT’s. The main objective of Local Chapter is to provide wider dissemination of the SWAYAM-NPTEL initiatives and integrate MOOCs to mainstream education. The Local Chapter acts as an extended arm of the SWAYAM-NPTEL platform. Students are encouraged to enroll in the courses provided in the SWAYAM platform under the Local Chapter. This will facilitate our students and faculties to use SWAYAM-NPTEL Videos and Web Contents at our campus and also avail the certification exams. Some of the courses offered by SWAYAM-NPTEL are leadership, financial accounting, python for data science, operations research, stress management, cloud computing, human resource development, consumer psychology, population studies etc.
